WAIKIKI ANDROS

Andros may seem like a small island in The Northern Cyclades, but trust us, it is not so small when it comes to local history, traditions and a bunch of very talented creatures that we are honoured to know personally.

Having talent is a very diverse term, but for us, it means undeniable authenticity and passion that drives ideas to become reality. Whether it is creating an organic bee farm, developing an assorted herbs brand, or pursuing the dream of becoming a designer, Andros has its very own secret talents.

Today, we would like to introduce our dear friend Kiki, a beautiful and elegant soul, and the owner of Waikiki Andros - one of our favourite shops in Chora, Andros’ capital.

Waikiki Andros is a curated concept store, that alongside Kiki’s own collection inspired by her Greek heritage, offers a selection of minimalist-folk kaftans and clothing, crafted sandals and accessories, as well as small objects and interior items. Kiki’s focus is on collaborations with established or young artists and creators.

Although Kiki graduated from Comparative Literature in German’s Munich, she has been enchanted by the aesthetics surrounding her ever since:

“I was always fascinated by observing people, how they are dressed, looking at pictures and drawings from the medieval period to Baroque, to military uniforms or the traditional folk costumes from around the world.”

Kiki’s taste for style goes back to her roots as she explains:

“I was very lucky to get inspiration from my mother and my grandmother: they loved and appreciated nice, handcrafted textiles. My mother especially expressed her personal style, always looking elegant and unique, that has influenced me since I was a young girl. I am inspired by observing people, places and things and from everything that hides within its unexpected beauty.”

Opening a store in Andros was a combination of a happy coincidence and gut feeling for Kiki:

“The first time I visited Andros, I was immediately smitten, despite having no prior connection with the island. The unique beauty and style of the place inspired me to open Waikiki Andros in harmony with the character of the surroundings.”

If you find yourself wandering around Chora this summer, be sure to stop by Waikiki Andros for authentic Greek styles or simply just to say hi!

Waikiki Andros is currently working on an online shop where limited items will be offered, also to the devoted customers abroad, so keep an eye out!
