A series of practical information for before, during and after your stay.

  • From Athens or Mykonos

    Andros can be accessed by ferry from Rafina (mainland Athens) or Mykonos.

    Please take a look here to arrange a transfer between Athens/Mykonos Airport and the port – we recommend booking a private car in advance to avoid waiting in the long taxi queues!

  • There are usually around four different ferries per day.

    Typical off-season ferries from Rafina to Andros run at 7:30 AM, 7:50 AM, and 4:00 PM, though the schedule may vary.

    Ferry tickets may not be available far in advance, so to be safe, plan your flights to allow 3-4 hours between arrival and ferry departure.

    Arriving 20 minutes before ferry departure is usually sufficient.

  • Located about 20 minutes from Gavrio port, Mèlisses is tucked away in a quiet corner of the island. The closest town, Batsi, is 10 minutes by car — a reminder that our setting is intentionally remote and secluded.

    Mèlisses' location is not accurate on Gmaps. We'll send you exact details before your arrival.

  • Renting a car is highly recommended.

    The road to Mèlisses is steep and unpaved, with no barrier on the edge. For comfort and safety, we advise a 4x4 or SUV with high clearance. Please book early, as availability is limited in summer.

    For those less confident drivers, we’re happy to help arrange private taxis — just ask.

  • The property unfolds across different levels, with pathways and steps leading down to the sea — rocky, natural, and unspoilt. 

    During summer, just a few meters from the water, wooden deck chairs and two shaded pergola areas await, overlooking glittering waters where dolphins and seals are sometimes seen gliding past.

    The rocky sea access is available to all guests at their own responsibility. Please note that there are approximately 100 steps to reach the sea, and Mèlisses' main house is located about 25 meters above sea level 

    Mèlisses' strategic location provides moderate protection from Meltemi winds.

  • Item description

  • In summer, Mèlisses welcomes guests as a bed and breakfast, offering a daily morning spread. 

    All other meals are self-catered, however we can also put you in contact with a private chef on the island.

    Our weekly communal suppers cannot always be guaranteed and depend on the season. 

    In the quieter months, we host curated retreats and events, where we provide catering for every meal. If you’re interested in such services, please enquire vai email.

  • We are here for you, most of the time. You can find us at the main house from 8:00am to 8:00pm every day.

    Check-in: from 3:00 pm Check out: by 11:00 am.

    Late check-out or early check-in is possible for an additional fee, pending availability. Please email us at info@melissesandros.com to enquire.

  • We do host small, intimate gatherings such as retreats, workshops and small weddings or events.

    We can sleep up to 12 guests (double occupancy) and host up to 45 guests for an event or celebration.

  • Mèlisses is proud to be a family-friendly place to stay.

    We are happy to provide all comforts, including kids' cutlery, high chairs, toys and much more.

    We offer dedicated activities and small everyday chores to keep the little ones busy and interested.

    We trust our mamas and papas out there to be mindful and always keep an eye on your children. Swimming pools, the beach and steep paths may be hazardous for them.

    If you ever need a hand, we also have babysitters available… just ask.

  • We are pet-friendly, and happy to have furry friends over (one pet per group).

    Be aware, there is a male poodle on-site all season, plus 4-5 cats. Dogs are not permitted to sleep in beds or jump/play on them. It is your responsibility to clean up after them too. 

    An extra cleaning charge of €50 will be applied.

  • Normally, to respect our guests’ privacy, we do not allow external guests on the property. However, please feel free to ask us well in advance, as every case is specific and different!

  • We’re very happy to, as long as we aren’t too busy.

  • YES we are, but in a slightly different format than usual : )

    From mid-October to April, the Coral Cottage is offered independently and fully self-catered, giving you privacy and flexibility. Should you wish to enhance your stay, we can coordinate delivered services such as food or grocery orders, extra housekeeping, and tailored experiences, all available on request for an additional fee.
